So many ways to discover the Var!

There are so many ways to discover the Var, its natural and cultural heritage and its must-see sites! Sporty hikes, family outings, on foot, on horseback or why not even on an electric scooter or segway? Drive between the Maures and Esterel massifs, the Verdon Regional Nature Park, the Mediterranean coastline, the Dracénie, the Pays de Fayence, the Provence verte, the heart of the Var, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez...

Through the seasons

Let yourself be carried away by the wonders of nature: fields of vines, the scent of pines, majestic oaks, the unique fragrance of mimosas, glowing rocks, the sea and its monochrome of blues, the crystal-clear waters of lakes and rivers… 800 kilometers of GR ® (Grande Randonnée) trails, several hundred kilometers of PR® (Promenade et petite randonnée) trails, and over 200 kilometers of Sentier du Littoral await you, whatever your level and whatever type of terrain you wish to discover.

Horse riding

With over a hundred riding schools in the department and 450 km of marked trails, horseback riding is an ideal activity in the Var. Gallop along the superb panoramas of the mountain ranges, the rivers, the seaside… Beginners will opt for walks at a more moderate pace or even in a horse-drawn carriage in the heart of the Provencal countryside.

Mountain biking

If you’re traveling by mountain bike, you’ll find over a hundred routes to discover the Var!

Our department is home to two FFC mountain bike bases (Hyères and Provence Verdon), three Bike Parks and a Pump Track.

We regularly organize mountain bike events, and if you’re planning to visit us in October, you’ll be able to attend the Roc d’Azur, Europe’s biggest mountain bike event, held in Fréjus!
